Biography
Michael Thompson serves as coverage and litigation counsel for government contractors and their insurance carriers with respect to complex claims and litigation arising under the Defense Base Act (DBA) extension of the Longshore and Harbor Workers' Compensation Act for injuries occurring overseas on United States Military bases and NATO installations. He counsels clients throughout the DBA process including best claims handling practices, relevant litigation and defense trends, and alternative dispute resolution.

Michael also oversees the firm’s War Hazards Department pursuing subrogation and recovery of liability awards from the United States Department of Labor on behalf of insurance carriers for injuries occurring as the result of a “war-risk hazard.” He litigates novel issues before the United States Department of Labor’s judicial and administrative tribunals pertaining to the WHCA and continuing obligations under the DBA. Michael also advises insurance carriers of their rights and obligations under the WHCA throughout the DBA litigation process.     

Prior to joining the firm, Michael practiced securities litigation and compliance, immigration law and criminal defense.
