Aviation & Aerospace Coverage

Representing domestic, London market and international aviation insurers, our Aviation and Aerospace Coverage attorneys provide coverage advice, litigate coverage and bad faith claims and assist in policy and endorsement drafting. With over 35 years of experience in aviation law and insurance, we have developed an in-depth understanding of the business relationships and coverages unique to the aviation industry and aviation insurance markets. Whether a matter involves a general aviation first-party loss, a high value catastrophic loss, a class action or drafting advice, our focus is to provide thorough, prompt and cost-effective counsel and representation.

We have guided our insurer clients through many of the major events the aviation insurance industry has faced including, most recently, the Covid-19 pandemic and the Russia/Ukraine conflict. We work with virtually all forms of coverage in the aviation insurance market, including comprehensive airline policies, aircraft hull and liability coverages, aviation commercial general liability, contingent coverage, war and allied perils, fueling policies, products liability coverages and airport liability.

We assist insurers in drafting policies and manuscript endorsements. Clients have called upon us to help them develop and draft innovative insurance coverages, including policies to provide coverage for UAV or “drone” operators and policies providing specialized NBCR terrorism insurance and malicious assault/cyber insurance.

We counsel insurers on an even wider array of claims, advising on antitrust claims against air cargo carriers, discrimination claims by passengers, class actions against airlines, products liability litigation and hull loss disputes. We litigate coverage in state and federal courts throughout the United States and internationally, with experience ranging from obtaining reformation of an aircraft fleet policy to defending an insurer in coverage litigation arising out of the confiscation of an aircraft in Brazil.
